VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Become a Firefighter
Volunteer firefighters are the backbone of our department. Firefighters respond to emergency calls, participate in training, maintain equipment, and work as a team to protect lives and property.
No experience is necessary. We will help you obtain the training and certifications needed to serve safely and effectively. Whether you're looking for a new challenge, a way to give back, or an opportunity to learn valuable skills, becoming a firefighter is a rewarding way to serve your community.
Responsibilities may include:
- Responding to fire and emergency incidents
- Participating in training exercises
- Maintaining apparatus and equipment
- Assisting with community outreach and fire prevention programs
Join the Fire Police
Fire Police volunteers play a critical role in ensuring the safety of emergency responders and the public during incidents. They assist with traffic control, scene security, and crowd management during emergencies, parades, community events, and other department activities.
This position is ideal for individuals who want to serve their community but may not be interested in interior firefighting duties.
Responsibilities may include:
- Directing traffic around emergency scenes
- Maintaining safe perimeters during incidents
- Assisting law enforcement and emergency personnel
- Supporting community events and public safety initiatives
Become a Support Member
Not everyone needs to wear turnout gear to make a difference. Support Members are an essential part of the Mahaffey Volunteer Fire Department's success.
Support volunteers assist with fundraisers, banquets, community events, administrative projects, and other activities that help keep the department operating and financially supported.
No firefighting or Fire Police training is required.
Ways you can help:
- Assist with fundraising events
- Help organize banquets and community functions
- Support public outreach efforts
- Volunteer at department events
- Provide administrative or behind-the-scenes assistance
